Behavioral Public Policy

First step is educating.

One of the tasks our team has been trying to do is to introduce the ability of behavioral economics to deal with public issues to others. That's why we began to teach this area two years ago. We used e-learning to promote behavioral economics methods and insights for the first time in Iran.Teaching was our first step. These sessions have been in the field of poverty, health, environment, etc and according to the needs of our country. Currently, we have more than 4000 members who follow our work and have contact with us.

Behavioral Public Policy (First Course)

I founded, directed and organized courses of "behavioral policy making reading group" in partnership with Behavioral Science Laboratory of the Sharif University of Technology in 2017-18. There are more than 50 participants and 40 hours learning, to inform the society about the importance of considering behavioral economics in policy making. Also, I Publicized these courses free in partnership with Maktabkhooneh (the leading e-learning and online learning company in Iran).

These meetings were held on topics such as the consumption of healthy goods, obesity, environmental protection, crime reduction and so on. In the first three sessions, we discussed the differences between behavioral economics and classical economics, the classical utility theory, prospect theory, and choice. we also talked about nudge units and some of the most successful behavioral economics interventions in various fields. We organized these meeting in such a way that participants from a variety of sciences and occupations as economics, psychology, management, political science, etc. could associate. At the beginning of each session, we reviewed the best articles and interventions concerning the topic and next, discussed the methods applicable in Iran.

The video above is the first session. You can visit my YouTube channel or Maktabkhooneh to watch the video of all the sessions.

The First Course of Behavioral Public Policy - Final Session

Behavioral Public Policy (Second Course)

After the success of the first course of behavioral policy-making, we thought of holding the second course. However, we designed the sessions a little more attractive. To do this, we invited at each meeting one of the policymakers involved in the matter under consideration. By participation of policymaker, we were able to better explore the problem and its solutions in Iran, in addition to directly presenting the insights of behavioral economics and their impact. The right video is the forth session which is about subsides and employment. You can visit my YouTube channel or Maktabkhooneh to watch all the sessions.
